A highlight of our event is Wednesday evening’s demonstration showcase and reception where 45+ member companies will show their latest advancements and products using GENIVI technologies.<br>

Thursday morning, 20 October will be given to GENIVI startup members including pitches from several new organizations and also two tracks of technical breakouts. <div>GENIVI will soon announce the availability of contributed open source code for a vehicle simulator. The new GENIVI Vehicle Simulator (GVS) project is the most comprehensive open source vehicle simulator available and its first use will be to test the new GDP user interface in a virtually simulated environment which will help GENIVI identify and execute necessary design changes quickly and efficiently.<br>

The <a href="https://at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/x/o5Ww" target="_blank" style="color: #2ba6cb;text-decoration: none;">GVS project</a> and initial source code provides an open source, extensible driving simulator that assists adopters to safely develop and test the user interface of an IVI system under simulated driving conditions. Additionally, the GVS provides a realistic driving experience with a number of unique features including triggering obstacles and infraction logging and review.<br>

Both developer and end-user code is available immediately and is free to all individuals wishing to collaborate, contribute or just use the software. <div>GENIVI recently launched a Challenge Grant Program designed to accelerate code contribution to the GENIVI Development Platform (GDP) and to promote engagement within the Alliance’s development community. A full-featured and easier-to-use GDP will facilitate a broader base of developers to participate in the GENIVI development community resulting in innovative and quality code making the GDP even better.<br>
<br>
GENIVI will fund a grant of up to $50,000 for contributions of software that implement new features in seven targeted subsystems within the GDP, if the contributed software is accepted into the GDP mainstream code base. The seven pre-determined subsystems include advanced telephony, secure software over the air updates, wireless local area network, Internet browser application, advanced media player, in-car network (CAN) interface and navigation enhancements.<br>
<br>
Registration for the GENIVI Challenge Grant Program is open to member and non-member organizations and individuals wishing to participate. <div>The GENIVI Alliance recently announced the availability of the first release candidate (RC1) of the GENIVI Development Platform, GDP 11. GDP is an open source project for automotive focused on consolidating GENIVI software into a development environment where rapid prototyping, testing and experimentation can occur. It is a platform for demonstrating how GENIVI code and interfaces work and includes a starter kit that can downloaded and customized for different hardware focused on automotive use cases.<br>
<br>
The GDP Delivery Team is calling upon the GENIVI community and others interested in open source software for automotive to test the GDP 11 RC1, before final release in the next few weeks.<br>
<br>
GDP RC1 includes ports to QEMU, MinnowBoard MAX (compatible with the new Minnowboard Turbot) and Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. Renesas and Qualcomm boards are in final testing.<br>
This first candidate brings several improvements from the latest stable Yocto release 2.1.1 including:
<ul>
<li>the latest meta-ivi pre-release M-0.2 bug fixes detected during the Beta pre-release</li>
<li>enhancements as an outcome of testing GDP with the target boards</li>
<li>the latest vc4 drm kernel drivers to support the RPi official 7" touch-screen.</li>
