Helping to get our new members or their new colleagues that join their organization up to speed and quickly leveraging what COVESA has to offer is a high priority to get the most value out of your membership.  Starting with knowing what is available, where to go for what and points of engagement are essential in beginning your long collaborative journey with COVESA.   This This onboarding checklist is a living and ever changing wiki page that should be visited and reviewed from time to time.   After you JOIN COVESA and complete your online membership application in addition to the membership agreement (two separate documents found at https://www.covesa.global/join, you will be ready for your 1st on-boarding call and formal introduction to the COVESA Alliance.

If you have some general questions you can send an email to help@covesa.global or to MikeNunnery@comcast.net or PBoyes@covesa.global.  Currently both Mike Nunnery and Paul Boyes are conducting the initial onboarding discussions with new members and both are available to help with any questions you might have.

Areas of Validation and then Discussion

  1. Making sure you have completed all your paperwork and identified your key representatives within your organization for future contact by COVESA staff.
  2. Informing you as part of the "Welcome Kit" the basics functional areas of COVESA, who to contact for what, where to find key information like teams, groups, projects, events, etc.
  3. Learning about your organization and what you expect to be able to obtain from collaboration with COVESA
  4. Sharing deep insights into COVESA based on your expectations above and helping you get started down the right path including any additional introductions or sharing of information that will make your journey with COVESA both successful and highly valuable as quickly as possible (collaboration and engagement).

Components to the Checklist and Onboarding Discussions

  1. Completing your on-line membership application and membership agreement
  2. Obtaining Sharing your corporate logo to be displayed on COVESA.global and member events
  3. Registering with the HELP DESK to get your personal ID/Password to access the COVESA membership Wiki which also provides you distribution of blog posts, newsletter, membership notices, upcoming events and other important information that is sent out from time to time.
  4. COVESA LinkedIn Community (where it is and how to join the COVESA LinkedIn Group)
  5. COVESA twitter and social media accounts (follow and help each other to tweet, retweet, and promote what is planned or happening)

Project Overview

Vehicle-related commerce is a growing topic of major interest with drivers, OEMs, Tier 1, payment companies, and merchants alike. Development teams from payment technology service providers, merchants, OEM’s, and Tier 1’s need to engage and collaborate to enable a safe and secure transaction experience for the end customer (the driver). The focus of the IVP SIG will be to provide a foundation of knowledge and access to the established ecosystems of automotive, payments, and retail.

  1. Provide a forum for automotive, payments, and retail to understand and develop requirements to enable commerce in the vehicle in a convenient and safe manner in the vehicle.
  2. Define and establish potential projects that mutually benefit and advance the acceptance of in-vehicle payment applications.
  3. Identify and define projects that would advance the standardization of specifications and requirements for in-vehicle payments for all interested industries.
  4. Facilitate and provide a unified industry representation of automaker needs with payments regulatory bodies.

  • Jan 8,  2020 - GEVINI - In-Vehicle Payment - Special Interest Group (SIG) Planning Meeting CES
  • May 12,  2020 - GENIVI Virtual Tech Summit
  • May 2020 - October 2020 - Numerous Zoom calls and meetings with leading organizations globally representing the IVP ecosystem.  Discussions were inclusive of the formation and purpose of the IVP SIG, the payment industry needs, and possible collaborative contributions of each SIG participant.  Discussions with a number of organizations also included exploring interests related to EV Charging, standards, and regulations which could lead to individual defined project initiatives. 
  • October 26, 2020 - GENIVI "Virtual Experience" All Member Meeting IVP Recorded Sessions
  • February 25th  2021 - GENIVI IVP and EV Charging Collaboration Workshop (scroll down a few sections to GENIVI IVP Workshop to see details and registration information)
