Automotive Virtualization Specification

The Hypervisor Project releases first Vehicle Virtualization Specification for broader review.

Virtualization is finding its way into the vehicle but bringing with it proprietary implementations that require vendor lock-in.  GENIVI has consolidated input from several hypervisor vendors to produce an early draft version of a produce  a  more standard automotive virtualization approach that by specifying the Automotive Virtual Platform Specification, which could serve the industry as a standard for future virtualization deployment.  The first beta release of the specification is now released for wider review.

FARACON Tooling

With a growing trend toward a centralized cockpit, historical in-vehicle operating systems and software must now be integrated.  GENIVI funded and has made available a production quality tool that performs translation between AUTOSAR interface descriptions and descriptions of other systems defined with a promising technology called Franca.  The tool produces bi-directional translations resulting in more rapid integration of AUTOSAR and non-AUTOSAR solutions like Linux.
